St. Tammany Parish is on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Covington is the parish seat, Mandeville sits on the lakefront at the north end of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, and Slidell is in the eastern part of the parish along I-10 and I-12 near the Pearl River and the Mississippi state line.
Although Northshore buyers often work in the New Orleans area, St. Tammany Parish is separate from Orleans and Jefferson parishes and from Tangipahoa Parish to the west, where Hammond is located. Each parish keeps its own assessor records and local regulations.
Many St. Tammany Parish properties have a Covington, Mandeville or Slidell mailing address but sit outside those city limits. Confirm the legal description with the St. Tammany Parish Assessor and describe the property as it is recorded. The listing brokerage confirms each address before the home is entered into ROAM MLS.
